Hainan island can be reached by air, ferry and rail.

Tourists can travel by air to the 2 airports in Hainan - the Meilan airport at Haikou and Phoenix airport in the southern City of  Sanya. There are many flights daily to Hainan from Beijing (takes four hours) and other parts of  China.

Ferries ply between Guangdong and Hainan also.  Traveling using the passenger railway link between Guangdong and Hainan takes about 12 hours and includes crossing Qiongzhou Straits by ferry.

The Treasure Island Chain has hotels at Haikou, Sanya and Xinglong, which are popular with budget travelers. A number of  high end tourist resorts like the Hilton Sanya Resort & Spa, Palm Beam Resort  & Spa are located at  Sanya. Prices are usually substantially higher during the peak tourist season in winter.
